SHINE is a global campaign focused on advancing decentralized, locally-led, renewable energy systems to benefit the 800 million people without access to reliable electricity. Launched in 2017 by Wallace Global Fund, together with Sustainable Energy for All, GreenFaith and the Ikea and Mott Foundations, the campaign empowers “last mile” communities and raises financial and policy support for energy access and justice. SHINE complements Wallace Global’s work on fossil fuel divestment by developing a robust, investable clean energy access project pipeline. SHINE is developing a new investment facility to resource community- and women-led enterprises and launched a COVID-response fund guided by women energy access leaders.
