Africans Rising is a Pan-African movement reclaiming dignity and addressing injustices perpetrated against Africans everywhere. The movement’s founding charter, the Kilimanjaro Declaration, calls for a decentralized, citizen-owned future that will build support and solidarity for local struggles. In 2021 they mobilized for a stronger public health response to COVID-19 in the #Rise4OurLives campaign. Their #FreeThem Campaign demands the release of journalists, political prisoners, and all people accused of non-violent crimes in Africa to reduce crowding at detention facilities and limit the spread of COVID-19.
